TAKE AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE

Mixed Media Collages on Wood & Paper | Various Dimensions

This series explores the intersection of the subconscious, dream symbolism, and esoteric iconography through a distinctive collage technique. Objects are carefully collected, photographed, printed, and xeroxed onto coloured paper before being cut and intuitively reassembled into surreal votive objects. This process reflects the fluid, unpredictable nature of dreams, where familiar forms merge and transform, taking on new and unexpected meanings.

The title Take and You Shall Receive shifts the focus of the biblical saying “Ask and You Shall Receive” from a passive request to active engagement. The act of taking becomes a deliberate, personal claim to reinterpretation. In this series, this suggests that by actively engaging with popular symbolic systems and archetypes, we reclaim their mainstream meanings, uncovering new, hidden insights into our identities, desires, and beliefs. This shift emphasizes agency, inviting a transformative exploration of how we can reshape inherited narratives to reflect our own contemporary lives and personal truths.
